As per MetService, an active front, preceded by a strong and moist northerly flow, is expected to move over New Zealand from the west during Sunday and Monday (09-10 June), followed by a broad trough of low pressure.
These weather systems are forecast to bring a brief period of heavy rain to northern and western regions, with the largest accumulations likely about the ranges in the north and west of the South Island. Gale force northerly winds are also likely about exposed parts of central New Zealand for a time.
• An orange Heavy Rain Warning has been issued for Tasman northwest of Motueka, Richmond and Bryant Ranges (also the Rai Valley), the Paparoa Range, the ranges of the Buller District south of Seddonville and northwest of Reefton and the ranges of the Westland District.
• A yellow Heavy Rain Warning has been issued for Mount Taranaki, the Tararua Range and Canterbury Headwaters.
