As per reports, a mega water outage is scheduled to take place in the Tijuana metropolitan area and parts of Playas de Rosarito due to planned rehabilitation works on the El Florido Aguaje aqueduct, with the suspension expected to last approximately fifty hours, starting on Wednesday (07 January).

• The Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT) stated that the suspension is part of a major maintenance programme to repair critical sections of a pipeline that supplies about forty percent of the city’s territory.
• A total of 632 colonies spanning residential, industrial and commercial areas are expected to experience interruption in potable water service during the outage period.
• Among the areas affected are neighbourhoods in Playas de Tijuana, La Mesa, Sánchez Taboada, El Florido, Camino Verde, La Presa, Otay, Santa Fe and eastern sectors of the city, as well as communities in Playas de Rosarito.
• CESPT has explained that the rehabilitation work aims to strengthen the long-term continuity and quality of water supply for Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, and reduce the risk of future outages.
