According to reports, Sakurajima volcano in Southern Japan erupted before dawn on Sunday (16 November) sending ash and smoke up to 4,400m into the sky, the Japan Meteorological Agency stated.

No damage has been reported, as per an official in Kagoshima Prefecture, where the volcano is located.
