As per reports, explosive activity continues at Semeru Volcano in Indonesia, with a volcanic ash plume reaching an estimated altitude of 14,000 feet (4,300 meters) or Flight Level 140 as of 0256 hours local time on Sunday (26 October) (2056 hours UTC on 25 October).
• The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin issued an advisory confirming the ash plume moving westward at five knots. Ground reports indicate intermittent discrete eruptions continue, and the height and movement of the plume are based on a combination of ground observations and model guidance.
• Forecasts predict that the ash cloud will persist over the region, with projected positions at six, twelve, and eighteen hours following the advisory, affecting airspace near coordinates between S08°01’ E112°58’ and S08°09’ E113°00’.
• The aviation colour code remains at Orange, indicating ongoing volcanic activity that poses a potential hazard to aviation.
