As per reports, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order extending the implementation date of newly announced reciprocal tariffs from Wednesday (09 July) to 01 August.
• The tariffs, ranging from 25 percent to 40 percent, target imports from 14 countries, including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Serbia, Tunisia, Indonesia, South Africa, and Thailand.
• These trade measures are framed under the administration’s “America First” policy and are intended to counter what the US deems unfair trade practices or imbalanced tariff structures.
• The delay is reportedly to allow additional time for final negotiations and for impacted sectors to prepare.
