As per reports, the US Embassy in Nicaragua has issued a security alert in advance of the official 19 July Sandinista Revolution anniversary commemorations.
• The alert advises US citizens to exercise increased caution due to planned marches, rallies, and a significant deployment of security personnel expected in Managua and other cities across Nicaragua.
• According to the advisory, these events may result in temporary road closures, traffic congestion, police checkpoints, and disruptions to normal transportation.
• Although the embassy anticipates that the demonstrations are expected to remain peaceful, it has advised US citizens to avoid all demonstrations and large public gatherings, monitor local developments, and leave any area immediately if protests or disturbances begin.
• The embassy has issued a specific warning against photographing or recording police officers, military personnel, demonstrations, or security operations. According to the advisory, such actions have previously resulted in arbitrary detentions and the confiscation of mobile phones and cameras.
• The advisory is precautionary in nature and is intended to reduce potential security risks associated with the nationwide commemorative events scheduled for 19 July 2026.
