As per reports, following are the updates on wildfires in Canada as of Wednesday (27 August):
• As of evening hours on Wednesday (27 August), nine active wildfires are active across the province of New Brunswick.
• Two of these fires are currently classified as out of control, including Beaver Lake Stream fire and Rocky Brook fire.
• Beaver Lake Stream fire in Northumberland County, has increased in size to 456 hectares as of 2229 hours (local time) on Wednesday (27 August).
• Rocky Brook fire, located approximately 40 kilometres south of Dalhousie, is reportedly impacting 175 hectares as of 2229 hours (local time) on Wednesday (27 August).
• Three fires are contained, and four are being patrolled. Oldfield Road fire in the Miramichi area is among the fires hat have been contained as of 2229 hours (local time) on Wednesday (27 August).
• Over 200 provincial firefighters are engaged, supported by personnel from Ontario, Maine, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec, alongside crews from the forest industry, Wabanaki communities, municipal departments, and natural resources staff.
• While the total number of active fires has decreased from 39 a week prior and 17 as of Tuesday, the continued presence of out-of-control fires necessitates vigilance.
• Restrictions on Crown lands, which were previously implemented due to high wildfire risk, have now been lifted
• To mitigate further risk, certain restrictions on forestry operations and a province-wide burn ban remain in effect as of 2229 hours (local time) on Wednesday (27 August).
