As per reports, as of Thursday (20 March), the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have reportedly killed at least 50 people in Khartoum over the past week. The conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese army for control of the capital has intensified, with citizens in multiple areas facing widespread violations by RSF and allied militias.

• Approximately 70 individuals, including 12 aid volunteers, have been abducted in the past week, and forced displacement has increased significantly in central, southern, and eastern Khartoum. Reports also indicate cases of sexual violence, though the exact figures remain unclear. Malnutrition has reached critical levels, with at least seven child fatalities since the beginning of March 2025.
• The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates that 3.2 million children in Sudan will experience malnutrition throgh 2025. Famine has been declared in three displacement camps in the Darfur region and parts of the Nuba Mountains. Nationwide, the ongoing conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced over 12 million people, creating severe hunger and displacement crises.
• The war, which began in April 2023, has escalated, with the Sudanese army advancing toward Khartoum in an effort to regain control. RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has reaffirmed his forces’ presence in key strategic locations, including the Republican Palace. The army reported on Monday (17 March) that its troops advancing from the south have converged with forces in central Khartoum, intensifying pressure on RSF fighters.
