According to latest reports, following are the updates pertaining to the rainfall situation in Kolkata, as of Tuesday (08 July);
• Waterlogging has been reported from Shyambazar, Ultadanga, Dhakuria, Ballygunge, Behala, and parts of EM Bypass in Kolkata, Sector 5 in Salt Lake, and parts of Howrah city, as of Tuesday (08 July) morning.
• On Monday (07 July) evening, traffic was affected on stretches like Maa flyover, AJC Bose Road, EM Bypass, PC Connector, Kasba Connector, Anwar Shah Connector, Dhakuria, Jodhpur Park, and Rashbehari areas. Residual effects affecting traffic movement are expected through Tuesday (08 July) as well.
• According to data by KMC’s drainage department, Jodhpur Park pumping station recorded a high rain count of 115 mm. Neighbouring Ballygunge, however, recorded only 15 mm during the same period, while Kamdahari in the southern fringes recorded 46 mm of rainfall on Monday (07 July).
• IMD’s Nowcast has issued an Orange alert for moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across Kolkata, valid till 1200 hours on Tuesday (08 July). A yellow alert for light rainfall is active for the Kolkata region till Wednesday (09 July).
