As per reports, on Friday (11 April) renewed violence was reported during a protest against the Waqf Act 2025 in Murshidabad. Several police vans and other vehicles were set on fire, internet has been suspended in the district but an official order is currently awaited.

Additional police forces have been deployed and a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was also reportedly ransacked amid the unrest. Several protesters blocked the national highway 12 near Dhulian under Jangiur subdivision. When the police forces attempted to intervene, stones were pelted at them and the police personnel resorted to lathi charge (baton charge). Further, security has been tightened at Jharkhand-West Bengal border.

• At 2138 hours, West Bengal Police issued an update stating that the situation in Suti and Samserganj areas of Jangipur is now under control. The unruly mob has been dispersed and traffic has returned to normalcy on the national highway. They further stated that strict action will be taken against those who have resorted to violence. Raids are being conducted to arrest the troublemakers and legal action will also be initiated against rumour-mongers trying to spread misinformation.
