As per reports, the following updates are reported on Typhoon Ragasa as of Tuesday (23 September):
• The Hong Kong Observatory has reported that the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 is in force as of 0345 hours on Tuesday (23 September).
• At 0400 hours, Super Typhoon Ragasa was located about 560 km east-southeast of Hong Kong with maximum sustained winds near the centre at 220 km/h.
• The storm is moving west-northwest at 22 km/h across the northern South China Sea and is forecast to edge closer to the coast of Guangdong, being nearest the Pearl River Estuary on Wednesday (24 September).
• Local winds have been gradually strengthening, particularly offshore and over high ground. Depending on the track and wind conditions, higher signals may be considered.
• Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, with gale to storm force winds, frequent heavy squally showers, thunderstorms, very high seas, and swells forecast for Wednesday (24 September).
• A storm surge of about two metres is expected over coastal areas of Hong Kong while offshore and high ground areas may experience hurricane-force winds
