As per reports, Tropical Depression Ada (Nokaen) is continuing to move east-south-eastward over the Philippine Sea east of Northern Luzon, with the update issued at 0500 hours (local time) on Wednesday (21 January) by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

• The centre of Tropical Depression Ada was estimated to be located approximately 1,215 kilometres east of Northern Luzon, moving east-southeastward at around 20 kilometres per hour. Maximum sustained winds remain at 55 kilometres per hour near the centre, with gustiness of up to 70 kilometres per hour.
• Forecast guidance indicates that Ada is expected to continue moving generally southeastward over the next 24 hours. Ongoing dry air entrainment associated with the surge of the Northeast Monsoon is likely to weaken the system further, with downgrading into a low-pressure area expected later on Wednesday (21 January) or by early Thursday (22 January).
• Despite the system’s weakening trend, the enhanced Northeast Monsoon surge associated with Ada is expected to bring strong to gale-force gusts across most of Luzon, the Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi on Wednesday (21 January).
• Similar conditions are expected to persist into Thursday (22 January) across most of Luzon, the Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi.
