The following are the updates for Tropical Depression Mirasol as of Wednesday (17 September):
• According to PAGASA’s 0500 hours (local time) bulletin, Mirasol has made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora. The system is moving northwest at 10 kilometres per hour (km/h) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and gusts of up to 70 km/h. Its centre has been located in the vicinity of Casiguran, Aurora. The advisory is valid until the next update due at 0800 hours (local time).
• By 1400 hours (local time), Mirasol is forecast to be in the vicinity of Ballesteros, Cagayan. Meanwhile, rainfall assessments indicate that Aurora Province faces the highest risk, with more than 200 mm of rainfall expected, likely resulting in severe flooding and landslides, especially in mountainous terrain and areas with prior saturation.
• For Wednesday (17 September), rainfall totals are projected as follows: Cagayan, Isabela, and Quirino 100–200 mm (numerous flooding events in urban, low-lying, and river-adjacent areas; landslides in moderate-to-high susceptibility zones); Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Nueva Vizcaya, and Nueva Ecija 50–100 mm (localized flooding and possible landslides in susceptible areas).
• On Thursday (18 September), Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte are forecast to receive 50–100 mm of rainfall, posing risks of localised flooding and landslides. No significant rainfall is forecast for Friday (19 September) under this advisory.
• The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Centre (NDRRMO) under the Office of Civil Defence has been placed on Blue Alert Status in response to the severe weather. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Response Cluster is on standby, with relief goods and personnel pre-positioned for rapid deployment as required.
