• As per the Cyclone forecast advisory issued on Friday (07 March), Tropical Cyclone Alfred (Category 2) is estimated to be 150 kilometres east of Brisbane and 125 kilometres east northeast of Gold Coast.
• Tropical Cyclone Alfred is predicted to sustain winds near the centre of 100 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 140 kilometres per hour. The cyclone is forecast to maintain this intensity as it approaches the southeast Queensland coast on Friday (07 March) and continues into Saturday (08 March).

• The damaging winds and heavy rainfall have disrupted the power supply to over 65,000 homes and businesses in south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales (NSW). Authorities are trying to restore the power supply for essential services.
• Cyclone Alfred is likely to bring Heavy to intense rainfall leading to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding between the Friday night (07 March) and Saturday (08 March). The State Emergency Service (SES) of NSW has issued over 100 flood warnings stretching from Tweed Heads on the Queensland-NSW border down to Forster, north of Newcastle.
• Authorities have informed people living in low-lying areas of NSW to evacuate, including Fingal Head, Tumbulgum, Stotts Island, Uki, Billinudgel and the Pocket between Byron and Tweeds. While southwards evacuation orders are also in place for east and south Lismore, Richmond Terrace, Coraki, Kyogle and Bungawalbin, also located in the Northern Rivers.
• Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced federal assistance to northern NSW, deploying 120 Australian Defence Force personnel to NSW for pre-cyclone preparation and rescue operation along with other essential services.
