As per reports, Venezuela has initiated a multi-day military exercise on its Caribbean island of La Orchila, in direct response to recent US military actions on Caribbean waters, on Wednesday (17 September).
• The drills follow US naval interdictions, including strikes on alleged Venezuelan drug boats, which UN experts have labelled potential “extrajudicial executions.”.
• The three-day exercise will involve 12 ships, 22 aircraft and 20 small boats from the ‘Special Naval Militia’.
• The drill, reacting to the US naval development, will include deployment of air defence systems, armed drones, submarine drones, and electronic warfare platforms.
