As per reports, following are the latest updates on Thailand-Cambodia border tensions as of Wednesday (01 October):
• Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaiphan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Navy, informed on Tuesday (30 September) that three Cambodian houses encroaching on Thai territory had already been demolished, calling it a promising first step. He noted, however, that several other sites continue to violate the border line demarcated by Thailand. Among them is a casino building in Laem Klat Subdistrict, Mueang district, which remains a key concern. The Navy is determined to complete the dismantling of all 17 sites, ensuring the process is carried out within a framework acceptable to Cambodia.
• The Royal Thai Navy’s Chanthaburi Taskforce constructed nearly 15 kilometres of road along the Thai-Cambodian border to support logistics and border patrol operations, the unit announced on Tuesday (30 September).
• Cambodian authorities on Tuesday (30 September) rejected Thailand’s move to apply Thai law over Khmer villagers living in the disputed border area of Chouk Chey and Prey Chan in Banteay Meanchey province.
