• Israel and Lebanon were reportedly discussing a pilot scheme to transfer control of certain areas in southern Lebanon to the Lebanese Armed Forces, according to reports, citing three Israeli officials who indicated the US-backed project would involve American training and vetting of Lebanese troops to ensure no links to Hezbollah, while Israel would retain a military presence in the buffer zone.
• Oman announced it was working with the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) to establish a temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, with the Omani Maritime Security Centre. Vessels intending to use the corridor would need to coordinate directly with the IMO, though the statement notably made no mention of any collaboration with Iran in establishing the arrangement.
