Update on shutdown by petrol pumps in Manipur – Sunday (11 January)

LowIndia2026-01-11T00:00:00Z

As per reports, all petrol pumps across Manipur’s valley districts and peripheral areas remained shut indefinitely from Saturday (10 January) following a bomb attack on a fuel station in Bishnupur district on 08 January.

• The shutdown was called by the Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF), which is demanding adequate security arrangements for fuel outlets and their staff in the wake of repeated attacks.
• In a letter addressed to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the MPDF stated that despite repeated assurances from the authorities, petrol pump owners and workers continue to face serious security threats. The fraternity cited Thursday night’s bomb explosion as a major escalation in the ongoing risk faced by fuel dealers.
