Update on Severe Tropical Storm Tino near the Philippines – Monday (03 November)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued an advisory for Severe Tropical Storm Tino, effective till 0800 hours (local time) on Monday (03 November).

The following are the details:

• The center of the eye of the storm is estimated based on all available data at a distance of 430 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.8 °N, 129.7 °E ), moving southwestward at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour (kmph).
• Maximum sustained winds of 110 kmph are estimated near the center, as well as gustiness of up to 135 kmph.
• Tropical Wind Signal 1 has been issued for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
• It is to be noted that the highest Wind Signal that is likely to be issued through the passage of the storm is Wind Signal 4.
• On Monday (03 November), the combination of the Northeast Monsoon surge and the passage of TINO is estimated to bring strong to gale-force winds in areas not under Wind Signal, particularly in coastal and elevated areas exposed to the winds. The affected areas include Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Bicol Region.
