According to reports, negotiations and security operations continued on Monday (22 June) at Nagarasu Gurdwara in Rudraprayag district after a standoff involving a group of Nihang Sikhs entered its third day.
Authorities stated that efforts to peacefully resolve the situation remain ongoing, while conflicting claims continue regarding allegations that gurdwara personnel were being held against their will. The details are as follows:
• As of Monday (22 June), district authorities, police officials and security personnel continued negotiations with the Nihang Sikhs present inside the Nagarasu Gurdwara premises in an effort to peacefully resolve the ongoing standoff.
• Reports indicate that some progress was achieved during negotiations, although security deployments remained in place and authorities continued monitoring the situation closely.
• Internet restrictions and precautionary security measures remained in effect in parts of Rudraprayag and adjoining areas as authorities sought to prevent the spread of misinformation and maintain public order.
• Officials stated that the Nihang group entered the gurdwara premises following demands linked to the release of individuals arrested after an earlier clash in Karnaprayag, Chamoli district.
