As per reports, the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) held a rally near the Constitutional Court in central Seoul on Saturday (22 February), calling for the court to decide to remove impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol from office. The party estimated that around 35,000 people attended the rally, including 80 lawmakers and the party’s leadership. Meanwhile, on Friday (21 February), pro- and anti-impeachment rallies were held at Korea University, Seoul National University and Yonsei University.
The rallies turned volatile and reported participation from YouTubers, political organizations and far-right members. Ambulances were dispatched to the scene following the clashes. Police estimated that the pro-impeachment rally had around 165 participants, but only about 20 were students. Over 130 were impeachment supporters from outside groups and 15 were YouTubers. Meanwhile, the anti-impeachment rally reported 340 people, with only 20 students among them. The remaining 320 consisted of YouTubers and supporters of President Yoon.
