As per reports, on Friday (26 September) workers and supporters gathered at Malpensa Airport, particularly at Terminal one and Cargo City, to conduct demonstrations and a 24-hour air transport strike organized by CUB (Unitary Confederation of Base Unions) and USB (Base Trade Union) unions.
• The protest aimed to highlight support for the Palestinian people in Gaza and to raise concerns about workers’ rights, including low wages, heavy workloads, and inadequate work-life balance.
• Participants emphasized ethical concerns about civilian airports being used for military logistics while demanding better compensation, wage increases, and safer working conditions.
• Authorities diverted traffic and closed access roads to manage the protest, and organizers indicated that the blockade would last at least until 1400 hours local time (1200 hours UTC).
