According to reports, postal trade unions participating in the ongoing strike staged a ‘Satyagraha’ (civil resistance) campaign in front of the Colombo Central Mail Exchange on Friday (22 August). Representatives from several other unions, including the All Ceylon United Teachers’ Union and the Workers’ Struggle Center, also joined the demonstration.

Special police security was deployed around the Colombo Central Mail Exchange premises in response to the Satyagraha campaign, which commenced in the morning hours of Friday (22 August).
