As per reports, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is expected to visit Kanyakumari district on Wednesday (15 April) to express support for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidates ahead of the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections.
• The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district, by helicopter from Thiruvananthapuram at 1600 hours (local time). PM Modi will further hold a roadshow starting from the Veppamoodu area to the Vadassery road, scheduled to start at 1700 hours (local time). Following the roadshow, he is scheduled to depart for Delhi via Thiruvananthapuram at 1800 hours (local time).
• Iron barricades have been installed along major roads, and loudspeakers have been set up in Neppamudu, Manimedai, Anna Sports Complex, and Vadasseri areas to facilitate the event. Traffic diversions will be in place on the stretch between Vadassery bus stand and Kottar police station on Wednesday (15 April), particularly during peak movement hours associated with the event.
• Authorities have allocated designated standing areas for attendees from different constituencies to manage crowd distribution. Individuals from Kanyakumari and Nagercoil constituencies have been assigned space at Neppamudu and Manimedai junctions.
• Attendees from Kulachal and Padmanabhapuram constituencies have been directed to gather near the Anna Stadium area, while those from Killiyur and Vilavancode constituencies have been allocated space near the Anna statue in Vadasseri. Separate arrangements have also been made for participants arriving from Nellai, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi districts.
• A large turnout, potentially in lakhs, is anticipated for the roadshow. Former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan has advised that small children, elderly individuals, and those with health concerns avoid attending due to expected crowd density. The Prime Minister is expected to be visible to the public from an approximate distance of five feet during the procession.
• Basic amenities, including drinking water, have been arranged, and designated parking areas have been set up to manage vehicular inflow. Under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Stalin, enhanced security measures have been implemented across Nagercoil city. Security has also been strengthened at district border check posts and along coastal areas to monitor movement and maintain order.
