As per reports, following are the latest situational updates on the Manipur unrest, as of Monday (08 September);

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Manipur on Saturday (13 September) for a few hours and hold public meetings at two places, as per official sources. A meeting was held at Raj Bhawan in Imphal to discuss the visit of the Prime Minister to the state as well.
• On 04 September, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the Kuki Zo Council (KZC) agreed to reopen the NH2. The announcement coincided with the extension of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement between the Centre and the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and the United People’s Front (UPF). Both have further stated that the reopening of National Highway 2 must not be misinterpreted as an endorsement of unrestricted movement between Meitei and Kuki-Zo areas.
• However, two days later, Kuki-Zo rebel groups stated that KZC’s appeal was specifically confined to the Kangpokpi stretch, aimed at encouraging cooperation with central security forces to ensure the safe passage of essential goods.
• Further, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has rejected the recent Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement between the government and Kuki-Zo insurgent groups.
• Additionally, security forces arrested two active cadres of KCP (Apunba), both residents of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai under Singjamei-PS, Imphal West district from the locality of their residence on Sunday (07 September). Four cadres of other organisations were also arrested from general area near Border Pillar 73, Chongjang under Moreh-PS, Tengnoupal district.
• Security forces also recovered several arms and ammunition from Sekmai Pangantabi area under Sekmai-PS, Imphal West district on Sunday (07 September).
