As per reports, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) protest march towards Islamabad, to protest against inflation and the petroleum levy, has commenced as of Sunday (20 September).
After negotiations between the JI and the government failed, several hundred JI supporters across Sukkur, Multan and other cities are reportedly mobilising to travel to Islamabad. They are expected to arrive in Islamabad around Wednesday (23 September). Furthermore, JI leadership has stated that several thousand supporters and volunteers are expected to travel from Karachi to Islamabad by road.
