As per reports, update on inclement weather conditions in Sikkim as of Saturday (15 June) is as folows:
• Nine people, six in North Sikkim and three in South Sikkim, have been reported dead in the landsides, as of Saturday (15 June).
• Authorities under the Sikkim Government are planning to airlift around 1,200 tourists including 15 foreign nationals, who are stranded at Lachung in North Sikkim’s Mangan district, and remain cut off for the second consecutive day following the massive landslides.
• Red alert has been issued for Mangan district till Sunday (16 June) morning, orange alert has been issued for all the six districts till around Tuesday (18 June) morning, as per IMD’s regional office in Gangtok.
• Places such as Djongu, Chungthang and Mangan Bazar have been cut off and one relief camp has been opened at Pakshep.
