As per reports, following are the latest updates on the impact of Super Typhoon Ragasa on Hong Kong as of Friday (26 September):
• Economists have estimated economic losses to the tune of HKD 2–3 billion as a result of Ragasa, which is comparable to losses incurred due to Typhoon Wipha which struck in July 2025. The losses were mainly attributed to reduced productivity during the two days of the typhoon; economists stated that much higher losses would have been incurred if there had been major asset damages (such as collapsed buildings).
• Waterfront restaurants at the Tseung Kwan O promenade were flooded, with many of them experiencing damage to their structure. Some owners have said it may cost them millions of Hong Kong dollars to repair their outlets.
• As many as 1,000 flights were cancelled between 23-25 September, affecting about 140,000 passengers.
• Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Bualoi over the western North Pacific is forecast to approach the Philippines and enter the South China Sea between on Friday (26 September). Bualoi is expected to track across the central and southern parts of the South China Sea, moving generally toward the seas south of Hainan Island.
