The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall on Saturday and Sunday (27-28 July) in Pune.
• The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has advised citizens to take precautions against the risk of water-borne diseases spreading through drinking water.
• The heavy rainfall in Pavana dam has led to an increase in the turbidity of the river water, subsequently leading to technical difficulties. The elevated water tanks that supply water are not full yet, and is still in process. Thus water supply to all parts of the city will be delayed, at low pressure, and will last a short time for some days. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) that the issue will be resolved soon.
• The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company has restored electricity to 97.7 percent of its consumers. Work on stabilizing power supply continued till late Friday (26 July) evening to around 31 transformers in Ektanagri (Sinhgad Road), Maval, Lonavala, and other areas. On Sinhgad Road, the power to 19 transformers was disrupted on Thursday (25 July). Power was restored on Friday (26 July) to 12 transformers, while of the remaining five, three were replaced and two are offline for safety reasons due to waterlogged rooms.
