Update on heavy rainfall in Gujarat – Sunday (28 July)

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange alert for very heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning in Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara and Chhota Udaipur districts for Sunday (28 July). Additionally, yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning is active in all the remaining districts of the state.

• According to the State Emergency Operation Center, rainfall recorded on Sunday (28 July) between 0600 to 1200 hours includes: 21 mm in Eder, 15 mm in Dediapada, 12 mm in Wadali, 9 mm in Mandvi, 8 mm each in Mansa and Subir, 7 mm in Vansda, and 6 mm each in Singhwad, Umarpada, and Songadh. Additionally, 30 other talukas have received rainfall below 5 mm.
• As per reports, on Sunday (28 July), 74 reservoirs have been put on alert. Out of 207 reservoirs, 45 are full, including 35 dams in Saurashtra, six in Kutch, and four out of 13 in South Gujarat.
• As per reports, 52 dams with more than 90 percent capacity are in high alert mode, 12 dams with 80 to 90 percent capacity are on alert, and 10 dams with 70 to 80 percent capacity are on warning.
