As per the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), yellow alerts for fog have been issued in all districts of Delhi on Sunday (31 December). In Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar) and Ghaziabad, orange alerts for fog and cold weather remain issued on Sunday (31 December).
• The minimum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory, was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius. Reduced visibility caused by dense fog led to severe disruptions in vehicular movement at Subroto Park, DND flyover, and India Gate.
• Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted a further drop in mercury during the first week of January 2024, with temperatures expected to range between 10 and seven degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung Observatory.
• Earlier, train services were affected for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday (30 December), with 30 Delhi-bound trains experiencing delays. Additionally, 80 flights were canceled on the same day.
• According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) latest bulletin issued at 1600 hours on Saturday (30 December), Delhi recorded a 24-hour average AQI of 400 (Very Poor). Noida recorded a 24-hour average AQI of 334 (Very Poor), while Greater Noida’s figure stood at 311 (Very Poor). Gurugram recorded a 24-hour average AQI of 273 (Poor).
