Update on flooding reported in East Jakarta as of Sunday (22 March)

As per reports, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that as of 0726 hours (local time) on Sunday (22 March), approximately 46 Neighborhood Associations (RTs) remained inundated. The flooding was attributed to sustained heavy rainfall since the afternoon hours on Saturday (21 March), which led to inundation across several areas in East Jakarta.

In addition, water levels ranged from 30 centimeters to one meter, with the highest inundation reported in the Ceger subdistrict of Cipayung. Several residents were also evacuated after water levels exceeded safety thresholds from Saturday (21 March).

• Evacuation operations were carried out by personnel from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department (Gulkarmat), including in the Cibubur and Ciracas subdistricts.
• The affected neighborhood units still affected by the flood include Ceger Village, Munjul Subdistrict, Dukuh Subdistrict, Cibubur Subdistrict, Pekayon Subdistrict, Cipinang Muara Subdistrict, Cipinang Melayu Subdistrict, Ciracas Subdistrict, and Baru Subdistrict.
• In Cibubur Village, flooding was reported in RW 05 and RW 06, while in Kelapa Dua Wetan Village, RW 02, RW 09, and RW 11 were inundated.
• Furthermore, in Ciracas Subdistrict, flooding affected RW 04 and RW 05, while in Rambutan Subdistrict, RW 01 and RW 03 were impacted.
• Based on field reports, water levels have reportedly begun to gradually recede, with a decline of approximately five centimeters (cm). However, authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant, as the risk of flash flooding persists.
