As per reports, following are the updates regarding the flooding situation as of Saturday (24 August):
• Sunderbans has submerged as the water levels of the Mongla and Pashur rivers in Bagerhat are flowing above the danger mark.
• About 1.1 million consumers remained without electricity in the flood-affected areas till Friday evening (23 August).
• Several areas of the country, including Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Comilla, Cox’s Bazar, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria and Moulvibazar, remain flooded due to onrush of hills and heavy rainfalls.
• In many places, the power supply has been snapped to avoid accidents due to flooding of power substations, submergence of electric meters, and damage to poles. The power supply has been completely cut off in Feni.
• The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) continues to supply electricity in Sylhet, Comilla, and other regions. However, many of its customers also lack power due to the flood.
