Update on collision involving Indian Umrah pilgrims near Medina as of Monday (17 November)

As per reports, as of Monday (17 November), a major accident involving a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims resulted in at least 42 fatalities, after the vehicle collided with a diesel tanker near Medina, Saudi Arabia.

• The incident occurred at approximately 2300 hours local time (2000 hours UTC) on Sunday (16 November) in the area identified as Mufrihat, roughly 160 kilometres from Medina.
• Several victims are believed to be Indian nationals, with a significant number reportedly from Hyderabad, specifically the Bazarghat area of Mallepalli.
• Reportedly, preliminary reports received by the Telangana government indicate that at least 16 of the deceased were Hyderabad residents.
• A control room has been established at the Telangana Secretariat to assist families.
