As per reports, the following are the latest updates on clashes and protests reported in Kathmandu as of Sunday (30 March):

• As of Sunday (30 March), the Nepali Congress and the Opposition Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) (Maoist Centre) demanded action against the former King Gyanendra Shah, reportedly holding him responsible for the violent protests that engulfed Nepal. Meanwhile, the Rajendra Lingden-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), reportedly warned the government not to drag the former king into the ongoing issue.
• On Saturday (29 March), Kathmandu’s civic body issued the former King Gyanendra Shah a letter demanding a fine of NPR 7,93,000 as compensation for the damage caused to public property and environment during the pro-monarchy protests in parts of Kathmandu.
• Further, the Nepal government has also reportedly downsized the security team deployed at the Nirmal Niwas for former King Gyanendra Shah, from 25 to 16, amid further increased vigilance on the activities of the former monarch by the government.
• On Sunday (30 March), lawmakers from both the Opposition and the ruling parties in Nepal’s Lower House and the House of Representatives, reportedly argued over the issue of monarchy and the deposition of the electricity authority chief. The Parliament Secretariat further cited “technical issues” for the failure in broadcasting the session, which has been reportedly adjourned following the arguments.
• Additionally, both the ruling and opposition parties have reportedly demanded an investigation into the issue. Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has called for a meeting with parties present in the parliament at 1800 hours (local time) on Sunday (30 March), to discuss recent political developments.
