Update on Chandigarh farmers’ sit-in protest as of Friday (06 September)

As per reports, the following are the latest updates on the farmers’ protests in North India as of Friday (06 September):

• Several activists belonging to the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan faction [BKU (Ugrahan)] and the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Union (PKMU) remained at Chandigarh’s Sector 34 grounds on Thursday (05 September) night, following the end of their five-day sit-in protest.
• The unions held a meeting on Thursday (05 September) to take a call on future protests.
• The unions also held a meeting with members of the Punjab Cabinet, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
• The Punjab Government has reportedly agreed to send its Draft Agriculture Policy to the leaders of the BKU and PKMU by 30 September.
