As per reports, thousands are expected to join two separate rallies on Sunday (21 September), marking the 53rd anniversary of martial law declared by Ferdinand Marcos Sr. in 1972. Demonstrations will focus on denouncing alleged large-scale corruption in flood control projects with accusations of ghost projects, substandard works, and collusion.
• The rally at Luneta / Rizal Park, Manila is called “Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon na Laban sa Korapsyon”, also referred to as the “Billion People March.” It will begin at 0900 hours local time and is organized by student groups and activist coalitions.
• The rally at the EDSA People Power Monument, Quezon City is called the “Trillion Peso March.” It will start at 1400 hours local time and is organized by Catholic and Protestant leaders under the Church Leaders Council for National Transformation, together with civil society and labor groups. Participants have been encouraged to wear white.
