The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported an earthquake with 7.6 magnitude in Noto, Ishikawa Prefecture at 1610 hours (local time) on Monday (01 January). Accordingly, JMA issued a tsunami warning along western coastal regions of Ishikawa, Niigata and Toyama prefectures. Reports indicate waves exceeding one meter has affected the coast of Wajima City in Ishikawa Prefecture. Meanwhile, Hokuriku Electric Power has initiated checks for any irregularities at its nuclear power plants.
