Update about the reimposed restrictions in Leh on Friday (17 October)

MediumIndia2025-10-17T00:00:00Z

As per reports, the Leh district administration has reimposed Section 163 restrictions to prevent a planned silent march organised by local activist groups and political representatives on Saturday (18 October).

• The silent march is planned by Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) to commemorate the victims of the September 24 violence.
• Public gatherings, processions, and marches have been prohibited across Leh town, and heavy police deployment has been made to maintain law and order.
• Leh Tehsil’s jurisdiction will remain in effect until further notice.
• The twin organisations have also called for a blackout from 1800 to 2100 hours (local time).
• The reimposition of restrictions reflects administrative precaution ahead of potential mass gatherings rather than active unrest.
