Unrest reported in Rome on Friday (24 October); Protest scheduled on Saturday (25 October)

As per reports, on Friday (24 October), at 1800 hours (local time) a pro-Palestine protest was scheduled in Piazza Verdi, Rome. During the protest, hundreds of people attempted to start an unauthorized march towards the city auditorium by passing the Israeli embassy. Water cannons were used by police to disperse the crowd and the protest ended.

However, another demonstration is scheduled on Saturday (25 October) from 1330-1730 hours (local time). It is scheduled to take place in the city center of Rome. The demonstration is expected to begin in Piazza della Repubblica and proceed through Piazza dell’Esquilino, ending at Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano. Local police estimates approximately 30,000 participants. Significant law enforcement presence is anticipated.
