As per reports, a tropical cyclone has developed into a large-scale Typhoon Kong-Rey, also referred to as Typhoon No. 21, on early Friday (25 October) near Mariana Islands. The following details are known:
• Typhoon Kong-Rey is moving west-northwest at about 15 km/h, with a central pressure of 996 hectopascals (hPa).
• The storm has maximum sustained winds of 18 meters per second (m/s) near its center, with gusts reaching up to 25 m/s, and strong winds exceeding 15 m/s within a 650 km radius.
• At 0600 hours on the Saturday (26 October) Kong-Rey is forecasted to shift to a 120 km radius in the same region, with wind conditions remaining steady at 996 hPa, maximum sustained winds of 18 m/s, and gusts up to 25 m/s.
• Typhoon Kong-Rey is expected to move close to the south Okinawa on Wednesday (30 October).
