As per reports, two separate fire incidents occurred in Kamloops, British Columbia, in the Rayleigh and McArthur Island areas, resulting in structural damage but no reported injuries on Sunday (25 May).
• Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire at approximately 1600 hours (local time) near the intersection of Mattoch-McKeague and Furiak Roads in Rayleigh, where the fire likely started at a backyard pool shed and spread to the home’s eaves and attic. The damage is mostly external, with internal areas still being assessed, and no injuries were reported.
• In McArthur Island area, a shed fire behind two trailer homes prompted a two-alarm response, resulting in the complete destruction of the shed but only minor damage to the nearby trailers. One trailer was likely saved due to its fire-resistant Hardie board siding, demonstrating the benefits of FireSmart construction, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
