Two-day labor strike initiated across UCSF and UC medical facilities on Monday (17 November)

As per reports, a two-day labor strike began at 0001 hours local time on Monday (17 November) across University of California (UC) medical facilities, including UC San Francisco (UCSF) Mission Bay in San Francisco. The strike involves approximately 40,000 UC system employees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), including custodians, food service workers, and hospital technicians.

The strike is scheduled to continue until 2359 hours local time on Tuesday (18 November). UCSF stated that operations across its health system are expected to remain close to normal. Plans were implemented to maintain essential services, including through workflow adjustments and reassignment of qualified personnel.
