Tropical Depression “Jacinto” located on Thursday (28 August); landfall forecast in Vietnam on Saturday (30 August)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather bulletin at 1700 hours (local time) for Tropical Depression “Jacinto” on Thursday (28 August).

• As of Thursday (28 August), the eye was located approximately 470 km west of Iba, Zambales.
• The system is moving north-northwestward at 10 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are 45 km/h near the center, with gusts of up to 55 km/h.
• JACINTO will continue to move northwestward in the next 12 hours and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight.
• Afterwards, it will turn west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea towards northern or central Vietnam.
• The system is forecast to make landfall in Vietnam on Saturday (30 August) afternoon or evening.
• JACINTO is expected to gradually strengthen and may reach the tropical storm category by Friday (29 August) evening.
