Tropical Depression ‘Emong’ exits PAR – Saturday (26 July)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), as per its bulletin issued at 1100 hours on Saturday (26 July), reported that Tropical Cyclone “EMONG” has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It is forecast to weaken into a remnant low later today while over the East China Sea. The center of EMONG was last estimated at approximately 695 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, and is now outside the PAR.

• Severe Winds:

The enhanced Southwest Monsoon is expected to bring strong to gale-force winds, particularly affecting coastal and upland areas exposed to wind flow.

– Saturday (26 July), strong to gale-force gusts are expected over the following areas: Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

– On Sunday (27 July) and Monday (28 July), strong to gale-force gusts are expected to persist in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Samar, Northern Samar, and Negros Occidental.
• Areas with Rough Sea Conditions (Mariners Strongly Advised Against Travel):
– Wave heights of up to 4.0 meters are expected along the seaboards of Batanes and Babuyan Islands, as well as the northern seaboard of Ilocos Norte.

– Wave heights of up to 3.0 meters are anticipated along the seaboards of mainland Cagayan and Isabela, and the western seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and Zambales.

– Mariners operating small sea crafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea in these areas, particularly if they are inexperienced or operating vessels that are not properly equipped for such conditions.

Areas with Moderate Sea Conditions (Caution Advised):

– Wave heights of up to 2.5 meters are expected over the western seaboards of Bataan, the Lubang Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan (including the Calamian Islands and Kalayaan Islands), and the northeastern seaboard of Aurora.

– Wave heights of up to 2.0 meters are anticipated over the remaining seaboards of Bataan, Lubang Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Aurora; the northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, and Northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Sorsogon, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental; the western seaboards of Batangas, Antique, and Guimaras; the southern seaboards of Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Quezon; the southwestern seaboard of Iloilo; the northern and western seaboards of Ticao Island and Romblon; and the seaboards of Camarines Sur.

– Mariners operating motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels in these regions are advised to take precautionary measures while navigating, and to avoid sea travel if possible under current conditions.
• According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 30 people have died due to the recent consecutive tropical cyclones and prevailing southwest monsoon rains, as of Saturday (26 July).
• Over the past week, Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong have brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to the Philippines.
• Although all three cyclones have now exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, monsoon rains continue to affect many parts of the country.
• The National Capital Region (NCR) has reported the highest number of fatalities, with nine deaths confirmed.
• Western Visayas recorded six deaths, while CALABARZON reported four deaths linked to the extreme weather.
• In addition to the fatalities, at least 10 people were injured, and seven individuals remain missing, according to the NDRRMC.
• The recent weather disturbances have affected approximately 5.2 million people across 17 regions nationwide.
• Around 310,000 individuals have been displaced and are currently taking shelter in 1,783 evacuation centers across the country.
• The NDRRMC reported that 1,401 areas experienced flooding, and 154 localities have declared a state of calamity in response to the disasters.
• More than 19,000 farmers have been affected by the storms, with over 19,000 hectares of crops reported damaged.
