As per reports, tremors were felt in several high-rise buildings across Bangkok after a 5.4-magnitude earthquake occurred at 0958 hours of Thursday (21 August). The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres in the Andaman Sea, roughly 211 kilometres Southwest of Mae Sot district in Tak Province.
• The tremors were felt across multiple districts in Bangkok, such as Din Daeng, Klong Toei Nuea, Ratchathewi, Pathum Wan, Huai Kwang, Phaya Thai, Bang Kae, Bang Rak and Khlong San districts. Some residents also reported symptoms such as dizziness.
• According to the Earthquake Observation Division of the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), the earthquake was linked to activity along the Sagaing Fault in Myanmar. This is the same fault was responsible for the 28 March 2025 earthquake that caused major damage and fatalities in both Thailand and Myanmar.
