Travis County implements burn ban due to high wildfire risk from Tuesday (20 August)

Risk level: Low Country: United States

As per reports, Travis County has implemented a burn ban for all unincorporated areas starting Tuesday (20 August) due to an increased risk of wildfires. The burn ban will remain in effect until Tuesday (03 September), unless extended or modified by the County Fire Marshal or judge.

• The burn ban is a response to dangerous heat levels and low humidity, which heighten the risk of wildfires, according to the Travis County chief fire marshal.
• Violating the burn ban can result in a fine of up to USD 500. Residents with questions should contact the Travis County Fire Marshal’s office for further information.
