As per reports, the Málaga City Council has prepared a special traffic and mobility plan for the Feria de Málaga, scheduled to take place from Saturday (15 August) to 22 August, intending to facilitate travel for residents and visitors to both Málaga city centre and the fairgrounds at Cortijo de Torres.
The plan includes enhanced public transport services, additional parking capacity, road closures and traffic diversions coordinated by the Local Police and monitored through the Traffic Management Center.
• The Mobility Department will reinforce EMT bus and taxi services to encourage the use of public transport. A total of 3,185 car parking spaces and 2,990 motorcycle parking spaces will be made available near Cortijo de Torres. Traffic closures and diversions will be implemented throughout the Feria to maintain traffic flow and manage increased pedestrian and vehicular activity.
• Access to the fairgrounds will be subject to road closures and diversions on Avenida de Ortega y Gasset, Calle Paquiro and Camino San Rafael, beginning at approximately 2000 hours local time (1800 hours UTC). In addition, the section from Calle Juan Gris to La Orotava, along the Camino San Rafael–Avenida de las Malagueñas–Calle Paquiro axis, will remain closed to traffic 24 hours a day throughout the Feria week.
• Avenida de Ortega y Gasset will also be closed between Rosamunda Street and the Trade Fair Center. Traffic on Camino San Rafael will be diverted via Avenida Juan XXIII and Calle Alcalde Díaz Zafra towards Ortega y Gasset. The section between Alcalde Díaz Zafra and the fairgrounds will be reserved exclusively for buses, taxis and residents.
• During the Feria, the Cortijo Alto neighbourhood will face access restrictions. Between 1400 hours and 2000 hours local time (1200–1800 hours UTC), only residents will be permitted to enter through Hamlet Street, while EMT buses will use Mefistófeles Street.
• In the city centre, the access-control system will operate in accordance with municipal regulations. Additionally, between 1200 hours and 1800 hours local time (1000–1600 hours UTC) each day of the Feria, an area in the city centre will be closed to traffic. Normal traffic is expected to resume at approximately 2100 hours local time (1900 hours UTC).
• EMT will activate a special service with additional buses to facilitate travel to Cortijo de Torres and the city centre. In addition to regular daytime services, 16 special bus lines will operate from approximately 2000 hours local time (1800 hours UTC), connecting different districts with the Real. Line F, which connects the city centre with Cortijo de Torres, will operate 24 hours a day.
• Depending on demand, Lines 4, 18, 19, 20 and 22 will be reinforced. These services connect the Real with Centro, Ciudad Jardín, Palma-Palmilla, Bailén-Miraflores, Cruz del Humilladero, Carretera de Cádiz, Teatinos-Universidad and Campanillas.
• Taxi services will also be increased to accommodate higher demand. The exception to the mandatory taxi rest period will remain in effect throughout the Feria. Two 24-hour taxi ranks will operate within the fairgrounds: one near the main entrance on Avenida de las Malagueñas and another on Avenida de Ortega y Gasset, to the north.
• In the Historic Centre, regular taxi stops will remain operational at Cortina del Muelle, Plaza de la Marina, Manuel Agustín Heredia, Córdoba, Puerta del Mar, Atarazanas, Pasillo de Santa Isabel and Plaza de la Merced.
• A designated pick-up and drop-off area for ride-hailing/VTC vehicles will be established on Ortega y Gasset, on the service road between Sigfrido and Flauta Mágica streets, with uninterrupted use 24 hours a day. Access to this area must be exclusively via La Bohème–Sigfrido–Flauta Mágica, while vehicles must exit via Rosamunda Street or Washington Avenue.
