As per reports, on Wednesday afternoon (30 July), a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) train caught fire near the Pearl/Arts District Station in Downtown Dallas, prompting the suspension of train services across the area.

• The incident occurred at approximately 1538 hours (local time) on Wednesday (30 July) near Ross Avenue and North Central Expressway, when a DART train experienced an equipment failure involving the pantograph, critical infrastructure that connects the train to overhead power lines.
• The train stopped just before entering a tunnel, leading to a significant emergency response.
• Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed that the fire was extinguished by 1700 hours (local time), though emergency crews remain on-site. About 30 passengers and 10 nearby individuals were evacuated, with 15 people sustaining non-life-threatening injuries; six were hospitalized for conditions ranging from minor burns to anxiety and respiratory distress.
• In response, DART has suspended all rail services through Downtown Dallas, advising commuters of severe delays during the evening rush hour. Shuttle buses and alternative bus routes have been deployed at key stations including Victory, EBJ Union, West End, Akard, St. Paul, Pearl/Arts District, Deep Ellum, Cityplace/Uptown, and SMU/Mockingbird.
