As per reports, a large-scale public event featuring Shakira is scheduled to take place in the Copacabana area of Rio de Janeiro on Saturday (02 May).
• The concert is expected to draw significant crowds and is anticipated to operate under a security framework comparable to New Year’s Eve operations.
• Traffic management measures are expected to begin at 0000 hours local time (0300 hours UTC) on Saturday (02 May), with the closure of Avenida Atlântica in both directions. Approximately 3,000 parking spaces are expected to be suspended, and access for chartered buses is anticipated to be restricted.
• From 1800 hours local time (2100 hours UTC) on Saturday (02 May), vehicle access to Copacabana, including private and ride-hailing vehicles, is expected to be prohibited, with exceptions for public buses and taxis. Subsequently, Flamengo Park and Botafogo Cove are expected to be closed to the public.
• At 1900 hours local time (2200 hours UTC) on Saturday (02 May), a full traffic shutdown is expected across Copacabana. The event is anticipated to include a post-concert DJ set extending until approximately 0200 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) on Sunday (03 May), to facilitate crowd dispersal.
• Traffic reopening in Rio de Janeiro is expected to occur in phases on Sunday (03 May), with partial reopening of Copacabana anticipated at 0400 hours local time (0700 hours UTC), followed by the reopening of one reversible lane on Avenida Atlântica (towards Posto 6) at 1000 hours local time (1300 hours UTC), and full reopening of Avenida Atlântica expected at 1800 hours local time (2100 hours UTC).
• Security measures are expected to include the deployment of approximately 8,000 personnel, supported by 78 observation towers, 600 surveillance cameras, drones, and helicopters.
